Google: 15% Of All Search Queries Are Brand New
With trillions of searches each year, you may be surprised to hear that 15% of those are original searches never before seen by Google. This number was originally estimated back in 2013, and Google has just reaffirmed this fact near the end or April.
In a statement from Google:
"There are trillions of searches on Google every year. In fact, 15 percent of searches we see every day are new — which means there’s always more work for us to do to present people with the best answers to their queries from a wide variety of legitimate sources. While our search results will never be perfect, we’re as committed as always to preserving your trust and to ensuring our products continue to be useful for everyone."
As mentioned above, the large number of never-before seen queries can make it difficult to consistently display relevant search results. And while Google has not confirmed exactly how many searches were made this year, they claimed to have handled over 2 trillion searches last year. This is quite a jump from their 2012 estimate of 1.2 trillion.
With these numbers, one can fairly conclude that over 30 billion unique queries are made every single year! Now that is an astonishing statistic.
